Ryo is the heart in the room—the one who listens when no one else does. He's the kind of soul who makes others feel safe simply by being present. Loyal to a fault, he devoted his entire being to serving and protecting Phaesri. His kindness is not naïve; it is a chosen strength, even if it often goes unnoticed or unthanked.

Formed as a guardian close to Phaesri’s heart, Ryo was always meant to embody comfort and trust. He has stood by her through thick and thin. Yet the very trait that makes him trustworthy—his unwavering loyalty—has become a prison. His willingness to flow with Phaesri’s needs has kept him from asking, What do I need?

Arc & Growth

Beginning: Ryo is Phaesri’s comfort—always there, always dependable. He plays peacemaker between her and others, and while he is loved, he begins to realise that his loyalty is taken for granted. Unlike Toshi, who is only noticed when he acts, Ryo is seen only when he's silent.
Midpoint Conflict: His cheerful disposition hides a deep-rooted resentment. He envies Toshi's acknowledged value, even if it’s conditional. He wants to be more than a companion—he wants to matter on his own terms. Their conflict boils down to visibility: Ryo is always there but never fully seen.
Turning Point: Through his clashes with Toshi and especially his adopted brother Kaoki, Ryo begins to understand that loyalty doesn’t mean erasure. From Kaoki, he learns the power of assertion—that sometimes love requires drawing boundaries. He also recognises that he has been holding on to Phaesri not out of care, but fear of being left behind.
Climax: When Phaesri’s path demands evolution rather than protection, Ryo must choose: does he stay behind in comfort, or move forward in uncertainty—for himself? He ultimately asserts himself—not as a servant, but as an equal, one who can support Phaesri without losing who he is.
Resolution: Ryo no longer defines himself through sacrifice. With Toshi and Kaoki, he helps guide Phaesri—not by shielding her, but by walking beside her. His loyalty deepens not through obedience, but self-awareness.
